SINGAPORE DESIGN WEEK 2023: FI&LD

As part of Singapore Design Week 2023, PLAY! brought to life inclusive play sessions where everyone was welcome.

At FI&LD, innovative and inclusive gameplay took centerstage. Its unique premise revolved around the fluidity of rules, ensuring an all-inclusive experience for participants: all controlled at your fingertips on a web app called “Play-Play”. This initiative was created by Ar. Ong Ker-Shing and Dr Joshua Comaroff of Lekker Architechts, and web development by Samson Sim and Huang Wei Tian.

HIGHLIGHTS

The goal of “Play-Play” is to depart from the restrictive nature of traditional games and sports that are governed by rigid rules, and celebrate everyone’s contribution to the games, in order to foster a sense of fairness and community in the games.

PLAY! had the honour of aptly running “Play-Play” sessions, where participants who came onto the field were invited to play games as a group. With the help of the web app, our facilitators were able to seamlessly add or remove specific elements from a game, to suit the needs of whoever was on the playing field.

Within this boundless space, an infinite range of abilities, occurrences, and outcomes found a welcoming home.
