PLAY! were Artists in Residence at the National Gallery Singapore where we created a series of workshops and performances.

Apr 2022 - Jun 2022 | National Gallery Singapore

PLAY! had the honour of being the first ever Artists in Residence as part of the Resonates With Residency at the National Gallery Singapore in 2022. The residency was a three month creative process, where we curated a series of workshops and performances in response to artworks at the Children’s Biennale.

HIGHLIGHTS

The workshops and performances created by Chew Shaw En, Clare Chong, and Moira Loh used a variety of disciplines from movement, filmmaking to music to help participants explore the theme of what is it means to nourish the child within.

PLAY!’s focus was on the way we can see the world through the eyes of a child.

Chew Shaw En

Moira Loh

Moira Loh is an interdisciplinary artist and producer working in music, theatre, and film. She is passionate about sharing intimate spaces and immersive experiences with her audiences, as well as exploring new ways different mediums can affect the artmaking process.

Clare Chong

Clare Chong works with undertones of the mundane. She is concerned with issues prevalent in ordinary life; the wink of an eye, the slight curl of the lips, a twitch in the ears. Her subjects are quiet outcasts of society we don’t pay attention to, and her works challenges means of gazing and observing - To what extent do we impose our preconceived notions, judgements, and opinions onto an image?
